By now if you shop at Loblaws you probably have noticed special bump out shelves filled with the new President’s choice Black Label products. I shot the entire line which took me to six countries over three months. I thought I would share some stories from the shoot on my blog. Today’s story is Tomatillo Salsa. This is insanely good on any kind of taco you might make. I especially like it with chicken taco’s. There is always a jar in the studio fridge and it is never full.
Just outside San Antonio Texas I found these three Texas Longhorns you see on the bottle. By lying low and making sounds like a dying seal I was able to get them to all look at the camera at the same time.
Pictured below is yours truly on the wrong side of the fence doing the wrong thing. Please don’t try this at home, not every Bull is so mellow, in fact most are not, and those horns can move with astonishing speed.
Ranchers breed the Texas Longhorn because they like to look at one or two in the front of their property. They are not raised for beef, rather it’s the length of their horn which determines their value. A cow with really long horns can sell for well into five figures.
All the talk about Robbie Burns day has got me thinking about my time in Scotland last year. I photographed Eilean Donan Castle for Loblaws. Two images have been used from the shoot, one for the Fruitcake and one for the minced tarts.
You’ll find them at the back of the store on an Island devoted to Black Label products. Both products are a perfect way to bring some comfort to a cold winter’s night.
Canada Post has just released a new collection of stamps featuring the Canadian Flag. I took two photos for the project. One is used on the “Day of issue” booklet featuring two kids jumping off a dock. The other is on one of the stamps in the collection. I shot a 1967 11 window Volkswagon Micro Bus in Velvet Green. This particular bus has been lowered and customized by Volkswagon connoisseur A.J.Walsh. A.J. is very proud to have his bus on a stamp and is currently seeking permission from his wife to have the stamp tattooed on his leg. I have promised to document the event if it happens, so keep an eye on this blog for further developments.
I thought Honda’s were nice reliable safe cars. Hide away your daughters because these bad boys are up to no good thanks to Performance Auto and Sound.
Nothing like starting the New Year off in an environmentally friendly way. Sherryll Sobie from Ignite Magazine , Art Director Fredrik Carlberg from Boomerang with his daughter Marissa help get our studio ice bar up and running. Drop by for a cold one, a really cold one.
When someone says Honda Accord to me my first thought is not “Bad Ass Mother” This week though, there are a few very naughty Hondas changing my preconceived notions in the studio. Performance Auto & Sound have asked me to shoot some specially modified Honda’s. Stay tuned for more pic’s.
